‘Shehzada’ box office collection week 1: Kartik Aaryan starrer scores low with just Rs 26 crore – Times of India
At the end of the first week at the box office, ‘Shehzada’ has earned Rs 26.50 crore nett. The initial incentive of buy one get one free ticket doesn’t seem to have worked as a strategy. ‘Shehzada’ has failed to bring in the audience in mass markets like Gujarat, Rajasthan and CI, which thrive on family entertainers, reports boxofficeinda. Kartik Aaryan’s film faced some competition from Hollywood biggie, ‘Ant Man And The Wasp – Quantamania’, which performed slightly better, earning Rs 32 crore nett in the first week.
Directed by Rohit Dhawan, ‘Shehzada’ is an official Hindi remake of 2020 Telugu film ‘Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo’, which featured Allu Arjun in the lead role. Speaking about comparisons with Allu Arjun, Kartik had told ETimes, “With every film, I am being compared to something or someone. So I am okay with not reacting or not thinking about it. When I was offered the film also, I never thought of such things. Because I know that these things always happen with every film – I have seen the same pattern during Bhool Bhulaiyaa and now again during Shehzada. This is a normal question which has been asked again and again to me. But I am okay, I have done my own things and with the character. And I hope what I have done, people will like it.”
