Actor Alaya F, the daughter of Pooja Bedi and granddaughter of Kabir Bedi, made her Bollywood debut with Jawaani Jaaneman starring Salman Khan and Tabu. After the movie was released, she was appreciated for her better performance. However, she proved her worth as an actor when she played a negative character in Freddy. People thought she is one of the promising actors in the newcomers’ lot. But did you know there was a time when people doubted Alaya’s capabilities as an actor despite being a star kid?

Alaya F on her privileges for being a star kid:

In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Alaya told that she didn’t know how to speak in English nor know how to act. Despite all her incapacities, she decided to prove everyone wrong who had doubts about her. The Jaawani Jaaneman actor said, “It wasn’t even about proving it to audiences in the start you know that wasn’t even the first thought in my head. See, everyone is actually quite right there was no reason for me to be a good actor.”

Here’s the funny thing when I decided to become an actor, I couldn’t speak Hindi because, at my home, we only speak English. I don’t know we’ve just always spoken English even with my grandparents. I couldn’t dance to save my life, I had never acted before not even like in a random class here or there. I was not fit, I put on a lot of weight, you know just nothing over there. I wasn’t even a huge Bollywood buff okay, all these things were there when I decided to become an actor but I was very clear that if I do decide to do this and this is my approach to just about anything which is that if you do it, make sure you do it well otherwise don’t do it,” Alaya continued.

Alaya F on becoming an actor:

The Freddy actor then added, “I embarked on this journey to say ‘hey, I’m going to go and I’m going to do this and I’m going to work really hard at it. A lot of people had doubts, a lot of people had a lot of doubts because it was sort of like ‘what will she do’, ‘how will she become an actor, she can’t do this’ which was true. I really couldn’t do any of that but I’m a fighter and I made sure that I’m going to be bloody good at it. I’m going to surprise everyone so I remember even when I had become, I had trained a lot and then tested a lot.

Alaya F revealed Jawaani Jaaneman proved her as an actor:

Pooja Bedi’s daughter further said, “Then I finally got Jawaani Jaaneman, then I went and I shot it and I had a fair idea that I’m not terrible at what I do because on set also you get the certain response whether people talk to you the compliments you’re getting or the whatever so I knew I wasn’t doing terribly I knew I was doing fairly well but before people saw it, it was like ‘oh what’s happening with your movies’ and I’d be like ‘oh good I just actually shot my film will be out soon’, so (they’ll be) like ‘you managed to speak Hindi’ and I would say that is how low the expectation bar is with me so I was like that’s amazing because then when I come on and if I do even half a good job, people will be so surprised and luckily, I did a little more than half a good job.”
