The Hindi remake of the 2019 Malayalam-language comedy Driving License, Selfiee dropped its trailer yesterday. Starring Emraan Hashmi and Akshay Kumar in lead roles, the movie is the story of a superstar, played by Akshay, who rubs a cop (Emraan) the wrong way over a driving license. Emraan, who used to be a huge fan of the star, raged by his brattiness, decides to seek revenge and get back at him.

Speaking at the trailer launch of the movie, Emraan opened up on his equation with Akshay and the experience of working with him. Adding that it was quite difficult for him to be mean to the Ram Setu actor on screen, Emraan said, “I felt bad mouthing those lines. I’ve followed him as a fan, I’ve adored him. I’ve gotten the privilege of knowing him in the past few years. He was there for me when there was a health issue with my son. He was the first one to call and stand by me, stand by family our family.” For those who are unversed, Emraan’s son Ayaan was diagnosed with cancer in 2014.

He further called Akshay an ‘angel’ and said, “I didn’t know him well back then. A lot of people surround you in your good times but bure waqt mein jo farishtey aate hai, that’s Akshay.”

Selfiee is directed by Raj Mehta and co-stars Nushrratt Bharuccha and Diana Penty. The flick will hit theatres on February 23.
